Canadian Firearm Safety Courses for Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL)

How to get your PAL

The CFSC (non-restricted) or CRFSC (restricted) is $209.99 plus tax each, and the back-to-back CFSC & CRFSC (combined course) is $329.99 plus tax.

Once you have successfully completed your course, your test results are mailed to the FSESO to verify that you have passed, then they are mailed back to your home. This process can take anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks.

Once you have your test results back, you can start the application process. Print out the application below, fill out the application with all of your information, and have your references sign it. We can take the required photo at our store for $20 and answer any questions you might have about the application.

When you have completed the application, you can mail it via Canada Post Registered Mail to the RCMP to acquire your PAL.

Canadian Firearm Safety Course (CFSC)

Non-Restricted

The training provided in the Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC) prepares students with beginner level knowledge on the responsibilities of possessing and using non-restricted firearms, their safe use and handling as well as storage of firearms and ammunition. The course takes a minimum of 8 hours to complete not including the written and practical test.

You will learn:

  • Basic firearms safety practices
  • Ammunition types and storage
  • Operating firearm actions
  • Safe handling and carry procedures
  • Responsibilities of the firearms owner/user
  • Safe storage, display, transportation, and handling of firearms
  • Minors who successfully complete the CFSC course can apply for a Minor’s Licence (2)

Prerequisites

  • Under 18 – Parental consent required for minors

Additional Details

  • Students may take the CFSC and CRFSC together as a Back-to-Back course for a discounted rate
  • 100% course attendance is required to complete the test
  • Retests must be taken within 30 days

Canadian Restricted Firearm Safety Course (CRFSC)

Restricted

The training provided in the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC) prepares students with beginner level knowledge on the responsibilities of possessing and using restricted firearms, their safe use and handling as well as storage of firearms and ammunition. (This course requires successful completion of the CFSC course to participate). The course takes a minimum of 6 hours to complete not including the written and practical test.

You will learn:

  • Basic firearms safety practices
  • Ammunition types and storage
  • Operating firearm actions
  • Safe handling and carry procedures
  • Responsibilities of the firearms owner/user
  • Safe storage, display, transportation, and handling of firearms

Prerequisites

  • Aged 18+ to apply for PAL with restricted privileges
  • Minors may take the CRFSC course for educational purposes only with parental consent (To apply for a PAL after the age of 18, students must retake the course and pass the written and practical exams)
  • Successful completion of CFSC course

Booking Policy

We require payment in full at the time of booking. If we need to change a course date or time due to an unforeseeable event all students will be notified by phone of the changes. If a course is changed all students will be given all available options in order to change their course date. PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM BOX FOR CONFIRMATION EMAIL.

Late Policy

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of class for pre-registration. The class doors will be locked at the start of the course with no exceptions due to the mandatory course hours.

Cancellation Policy

There are no cancelations within 30 days of scheduled course date. Rescheduling is allowed up to 14 days prior to a scheduled course for a fee of half the original booking fee. Please make sure you are available for the course you sign up for when you book it.

Once you book, you are making a commitment to the instructors and fellow students that you will be attending NO MATTER WHAT. The class will proceed with or without you. If you miss the class there are NO REFUNDS for any reason! If you wish to book another course for another date you will have to pay the full price again.
